Hotel Review

Château des Vigiers is tucked away on 370 acres of vines, lakes and woodland in the heart of the Dordogne region between Bordeaux and Bergerac. There are two accommodation types on the property - the beautiful 16th century Chateau or the more modern Relais, both offering luxury and comfort in magnificent French country style. The Chateau has 25 exquisitely decorated rooms filled with antique furnishings, four poster beds and private terraces, reflecting the opulent history of the place. Relax by the open fireplace in the library or the billiards room to really feel how French aristocrats of the past lived. The Relais, situated by the impressive 27 hole golf course, designed by Donald Steel, is perfect for those on a tighter budget, but who do not want luxury compromised. It’s solar-powered and constructed from locally sourced materials. Rooms have lovely views over the course and parkland. Detox in the state of the art spa and health centre after sampling the region’s finest wines (you’ll be spoilt for choice – including the Chateau's own label) and feasting on local delicacies such as foie gras at the Michelin starred restaurant. C'est fantastique!

See What They Say

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
For peace, the view and French l’art de vivre of food and wine.

What is there to do in the area?
Guests can play golf and discover the medieval cities of Saint-Émilion and Bergerac, and their famous wines too. There are also plenty of local markets, historic churches, abbeys and prehistoric sites nearby such as the great Châteaux of the Dordogne Valley.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
A regional Dordogne breakfast, with lots of different jams, Perigord ham, Vigiers honey, prunes and fruit from the Lot-et-Garonne region a few kilometres away.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
We have two restaurants - the michelin starred Les Fresques and brasserie le Chai. Other places we would recommend nearby are La Tour des Vents (Monbazillac), La Villa Laetitia (Bergerac), L’Imparfait (Bergerac), Les Belles Perdrix (Saint-Émilion), La Terrasse Rouge (Saint-Émilion) and La Cour d’Eymet (Eymet).

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
There are two room types most popular with our guests. The first is the Relais Superior room, measuring 36m² with a large walk-in shower and separate WC. Contemporary and classic in design, it’s decorated in warm and soft tones with clean, smooth lines and softly-carpeted floors typifying the essence of a Relais des Vigiers experience. Partially wainscoted walls give way to an expanse of intricately patterned wallpaper that complements the overall simplicity with a hint of richness. Each window-shuttered room has its own private balcony with scenic views overlooking the golf course, vineyards and parklands of the Vigiers resort.

There’s also a Deluxe room in the Château. All 14 of our spacious Deluxe rooms measure between 30m² and 40m² and are individually decorated in a distinctive French country house style, complemented by period furniture and adorned with objets d’art. Each has a magnificent view of the impressive golf course or the picturesque grounds.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
The best choice for families is a family room. Activities on offer include tennis, the six hole academy golf course (children must be accompanied by a parent, balls and clubs are not included), swimming in the outdoor heated swimming pool at the Relais (open from May to September), as well as darts and badminton.
