Nestled in a neoclassical palazzo on a street once home to Alessandro Manzoni - the 19th-century novelist who helped forge modern Italian - this discreet six-room hideaway occupies two floors of a building where Milanese families have lived for generations. The approach via an old fashioned lift or timeworn staircase is a reminder that this is a residence first, hotel second, but step inside and an elegant ease pervades the place. Each room is a study in quietly daring design - one all in white, another dressed in green—where contemporary Italian pieces sit alongside atmospheric antique and modern paintings and family heirlooms, creating spaces that are somehow both bold and understated - a certain je ne sais quoi that reveals itself in the elegant detailing. There's no breakfast room or restaurant - instead, a lounge with complimentary coffee and drinks serves as the communal heart, though the surrounding streets offer a wealth of excellent cafés within minutes. A concierge remains at your disposal throughout the day, ready with recommendations for the city's hidden gems.
