If you want to experience the authentic Patagonian wilderness, Estancia Rincón Chico may be the hotel for you. Set on the remote Península Valdés, it is at least a three-hour transfer from the nearest airport, but in exchange for the trip you can live in among the wildlife of this breathtaking region. The ranch was named the best lodge in Argentina by National Geographic; cast a glance over the simple, comfortable bedrooms, cosy sitting room and acres of beautiful grounds and it is easy to see why. There are no pretensions here - the hoteliers are well-acquainted with the natural surroundings and want to let the peninsula speak for itself. Built in the traditional, 19th-century British style, the ranch is warm and cosy inside, with open, wood-burning fires. Hands-on hosts Agustín and María provide extra services like guided tours of the beach; look out for whales off the coast during your hike. There is hearty, homecooked food in the evenings and lunchboxes are available for day excursions. A beautiful nature retreat.

A stylish, comfortable ranch that makes a virtue out of its remote location on the Unesco-listed Valdés Peninsula. It offers incredible views from the steppe and access to the extraordinary marine wildlife nearby.
