A century-old hotel in the heart of Turino, the Grand Hotel Sitea is showing its age but for loyalists, it’s part of the charm. Celebrating more than a hundred years as Turino’s grand dame and historical hotel, the Grand Hotel Sitea still stands as a desirable place to sleep when in Italy’s often overlooked city. It’s hard to say whether any of the rooms have been given a refresh since it opened in 1925, but they are large, spacious and come with all the amenities expected of a luxury hotel without the hefty thousand dollar price which is found around Europe these days. The hotel has one of Italy’s respected chefs at the helm, David Scabin, who has his 1-Michelin starred restaurant Carignano on premise. Book this place for a special meal and return often because of the changing, ambitious and seasonal themed offerings which change yearly. For a more casual dining experience, head to the adjoining bistro Carlo and Camillo where you will find other Italian families for dinner or chill out at the hotel’s bar: Americano. The hotel has 6 private luxury suites in a separate building across the street and a small wellness centre with sauna and steam room which can be booked by hotel guests for a supplement.
Michelle's Hot Tip: When you tire of shopping around Turino, retreat to the hotel’s golf lounge and try your hand at perfecting your game with a professional golf coach.
