Lovers of modern architecture will surely be impressed by this colossal edifice from 1973. In Brutalist style, with lots of exposed concrete both indoors and out, its massive structure is softened by lush Mediterranean planting – pines, cypresses and pink-flowering oleander - and it's gorgeous seaside setting. The 487 rooms and suites vary in configuration (they're undergoing a floor-by-floor renovation each winter), but all are very comfortable. For families, interconnecting rooms or suites are the best options – there's a kids' club and a playground, and baby-sitting is available.
For bathing, the main beach is a concrete platform with sunbeds, parasols and watersport facilities, overlooking Cavtat Bay. I prefer the steep secluded south-facing rock-and-concrete bathing area, looking onto the open sea, which is partly clothing-optional. The hotel has five restaurants and two bars – highlights are Spinaker, serving Dalmatian seafood with views of Cavtat across the bay, and the Steakhouse, specialising in barbecued meats. Other treats include the spa with a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool and padel court. It's a 10-minute walk around the bay to Cavtat's old town, a huddle of historic stone buildings giving onto a palm-lined seafront promenade with restaurants and cafes, where flashy yachts moor up on summer evenings.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? People love staying at Hotel Croatia Cavtat because of its unique peninsula setting with panoramic sea views, direct access to two quiet beaches, extensive facilities, and consistently friendly, professional service. The hotel feels like a self‑contained resort: guests highlight the spotless cleanliness, spacious grounds, pools and spa, and the sense of peace and escape.
What is there to do in the area? Cavtat is a picturesque seaside town with a beautiful promenade, swimming spots, boat trips and excellent local restaurants and bars. From the hotel you can swim in crystal‑clear water, enjoy water sports, dive with local dive centres, or rent a boat to explore the bay and nearby islands. Regular boat connections and water taxis make it easy to visit Dubrovnik, while walking paths and the pine‑forested peninsula invite relaxed strolls straight from the hotel.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer an extensive buffet breakfast which is included in the stay. There is a wide variety of options at both breakfast and dinner, with extensive hot and cold dishes designed to suit different tastes and dietary preferences. Breakfast is served in our main restaurant, between 06:30 and 10:30.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Yes. In addition to breakfast, we offer buffet dinner in the main restaurant (between 19:00–22:00), along with lunch options at hotel restaurants and poolside cafés. Within the hotel you will find multiple dining venues and terraces where you can enjoy drinks or meals overlooking the Adriatic.
Cavtat itself has a wide choice of local restaurants, serving fresh seafood, Dalmatian dishes and Mediterranean cuisine as the one on the lovely hidden terrace of Michelin recommended Supetar on the promenade.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most popular rooms are those with sea views and balconies, especially higher‑category doubles and suites. Guests highlight the panoramic views over Cavtat Bay and the Adriatic, and many consider the sea view “well worth” the supplement. Family suites and deluxe doubles are also popular with families, who appreciate the extra space and flexible bedding.
What facilities do you have for children an d can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Hotel Croatia Cavtat is frequently described as very child‑friendly. Facilities for families include:
- A kids’ club and organised children’s activities
- Playground and child‑friendly pool areas, with plenty of towels and well‑maintained changing facilities
- Babysitting service upon request
Many rooms and suites can accommodate children on extra beds. Extra beds and cots are generally available on request, subject to room type and availability.
What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? Hotel Croatia Cavtat is designed as a relaxed, full‑service resort on a pine‑covered peninsula, with two beaches, pools, spa and extensive dining, yet only a short stroll or boat ride from the historic charm of Cavtat and Dubrovnik. Whether you are looking for a beach escape, a family holiday with plenty of facilities or a romantic break with sea views and spa treatments, it offers space, comfort and a sense of calm by the Adriatic, with genuine, friendly service that many guests feel makes them “feel at home straight away.”
Sitting on its own peninsular, it overlooks a turquoise bay with a splendid view onto Cavtat, and makes a great alternative to staying in nearby Dubrovnik.
