Hotel Review

Amidst this mountain fresh air, Hotel Greif is a breath of fresh air. With far reaching views of The Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site, guests can enjoy the great outdoors with the benefits of modern, stylish creature comforts. The property has been in the same family since 1816, but after a radical renovation the eclectic decor reflects owner Franz Staffler's tasteful palette. Rooms are spacious (even the entry level features a living area) and fuss free. They focus on statement design pieces: hand-woven Iranian Gabbeh carpets, dark brown Wengé wood flooring, a grand piano and especially commissioned paintings by local artists; beds, sofas and windows are dressed with the finest Italian silks. Bathrooms are clad head to toe in marble and feature large baths and complimentary toiletries. Perks such as in room laptops show that this property is about more than just the design. Downstairs the Grifoncino Lounge Bar attracts locals with its trendy grotto feel, modern decor and inventive lighting. A buffet breakfast of local treats and delicacies as well as a continental spread is served daily whilst dinner at sister hotel, Parkhotel Laurin's popular restaurant, with its Italian-Austrian fusion cuisine, should be sampled. Plus its pool and spa is available for Greif guests to use. This hotel, set amongst the rugged beauty northern Italy, is an intoxicating blend of tradition, modernity and creativity.
