“A refined eco lodge in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Decorated throughout with traditional Incan flare- think antiques, colourful woven fabrics and floor to ceiling windows. The restaurant offers farm to fork from their own organic gardens and the spa offers local medicinal herb treatments.”

Hotel review

Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba feels like one of those rare places that actually lives up to the setting. It’s right in the Sacred Valley, so you get that quiet, tucked-away feeling, but it’s still convenient if you’re planning to explore Cusco or make your way to Machu Picchu.

The layout is a big part of the charm. There’s a more traditional hacienda with a handful of rooms, but the highlight has to be the standalone casitas spread out across the grounds. They feel completely private and surprisingly spacious, and the views are the kind that make you want to just sit there and do nothing for a while. Inside, it’s got that classic colonial vibe- wooden details, traditional furniture, little cultural touches like Inca masks- but it never feels overdone or staged.

Service is warm and genuinely attentive without ever feeling too much, and you get the sense that the staff really care about the place. They’ll casually suggest things like the best time to wander the grounds or point out details about the farm and surrounding area, which makes the whole stay feel more personal.

The grounds themselves are breathtaking, and what really sets this place apart. There are llamas casually roaming around, an on-site ecological farm, and private trails that are especially nice early in the morning or at dusk when the light hits the valley. Those small, included activities make it feel more immersive and personal than a typical hotel stay.

Food-wise, it’s fresh and pretty straightforward in the best way. A lot of the ingredients come straight from the farm, and you can taste it, especially in things like the salads and local cheeses. Meals feel relaxed and unpretentious, which fits the whole vibe perfectly.
