“A timeless and iconic 5-star hotel in the Swiss alps with access to skiing and hiking trails depending on the seasons. Multiple dining options, a Billionaire’s Club for those who love “dinner and a show” and an expansive wellness centre, make this 19th-century hotel anything but outdated”

Hotel review

St. Moritz is not short of 5-star luxury hotels but Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains is a winner if you want a hotel that has it all. Positioned on the foothills of the Engadine mountains, location is key for this iconic 19th-century hotel with direct access to ski lifts (which are free during the summer for hotel guests) and a good base for summer hikes in every direction. Although the property is not located on the main shopping street, via Serlas, the benefits of staying here are many - you don’t have all the tourists congregating in front of your hotel snapping pictures and you seemingly have St. Moritz to yourself in the early and late hours of the day.

Although the property dates back to the 19th-century, everything feels new and fresh with renovations constantly happening to keep their discerning guests happy. Rooms are decent but suites are even better so upgrade yourself if you value space or are travelling with family. The wellness space with sauna, hamman, indoor and outdoor pool, high-tech fitness room and cryo-sauna make it enjoyable to spend afternoons in the hotel. At night, drinking and eating is encouraged on property and you won’t be disappointed. Multiple dining options including a new Greek restaurant, a Dinner Show and Club Experience called Billionaire round off a great stay at a Grand Dame of St. Moritz.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Our guests are captivated by the unique blend of timeless European luxury and the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps. Housed in an iconic 19th-century building, our hotel offers a truly grand and historic atmosphere. Guests love the convenience of our location, with unrivaled access to skiing and hiking trails right at our doorstep. They also appreciate our world-class amenities, including our serene Alpine spa with its healing mineral waters, and our award-winning restaurants. Ultimately, it is our commitment to outstanding service that turns a memorable stay into an unforgettable experience.

What is there to do in the area?
St. Moritz is a year-round destination offering a plethora of activities. In the winter, our ski-to-door access makes us a haven for winter sports enthusiasts, with world-class skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country trails. During the summer, the Engadine valley transforms into a paradise for outdoor lovers, with opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, climbing, windsurfing on the lake, and golfing on pristine courses. The area is also rich in culture, with numerous art galleries, museums, and exclusive shopping in the heart of St. Moritz.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
We are proud to offer what many consider the best breakfast spread in St. Moritz. Our lavish buffet at the Grand Restaurant Les Saisons features a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. You will find everything from a fresh fruit and yogurt bar with a selection of berries to a station with smoked salmon and other fish, and an assortment of cold cuts. A chef is on hand to prepare eggs to your liking, and we offer a vast selection of breads, pastries, and pancakes. We even have a dedicated children's corner and a juicer pressing fresh oranges right before your eyes.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Yes, we have a wonderful selection of dining options within the hotel. Our gourmet restaurant Neora, the region’s first and only restaurant dedicated to the soulful, flame-driven traditions of Greek cuisine. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Swiss Alps, Neora introduces a vibrant contrast: a warm Aegean dining experience where the purity of mountain air meets the sun-drenched spirit of the Greek Isles. For a different experience, you can enjoy premium steaks and sushi at the Grand Restaurant Les Saisons. We also have a more casual Italian restaurant CRazy Pizza and a stylish lobby bar for cocktails and afternoon tea.
St. Moritz boasts a vibrant culinary scene, and our concierge would be delighted to provide personalized recommendations for dining out, whether you are looking for traditional Swiss cuisine, international flavors, or a cozy mountain restaurant.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?

While all our rooms and suites are designed for comfort and luxury, our suites are particularly popular with guests seeking extra space and indulgence. Many of our suites feature private balconies or terraces with stunning mountain views, as well as cozy fireplaces, making them perfect for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Our spacious multi-bedroom suites are ideal for larger families or groups, offering the ultimate in comfort and privacy.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms?
We are a very family-friendly hotel and welcome children of all ages. We have a dedicated Kempinski Kids Club with a range of supervised activities to keep our younger guests entertained. We are happy to arrange for extra beds or cots in our rooms and suites to accommodate families comfortably.
