Hotel Review

The setting is idyllic, at the edge of woods with views over vineyards and the ancient ramparts of Beaune. The nine large, bright, soothingly decorated bedrooms are split between the main house and a cottage, so even when the hotel's full, it doesn't feel it. Vincent, Jean-Louis and Christine Martin are the friendly owners, a fund of local knowledge who will organize anything from wine-tasting to ballooning.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? La Terre d’Or is located in the very centre of Burgundy, next to the famous vineyards, with great views over Beaune old town. We love to welcome our guests and share our passion for Burgundy: not only the great wines, but also the local food, the charming winemaker villages, the medieval castles and abbeys… We usually sit and speak about the guest’s interests and suggest an itinerary with stops at some of our best places. We also very much enjoy offering special guided tours of the vineyards and winemakers, with cellar visits and wine tastings. Here at La Terre d’Or, you can relax in the gardens, on the terrace or by the pool. We also have a Jacuzzi in a special natural grotto near the house, with stalagtites and stalagmites!

What is there to do in the area? Wine tastings of course, but also truffle, mustard, cheese, chocolate, jam tastings with the local producers. Great walks and biking on the vineyard trail through the famous winemaker villages. Visits to the Famous Hospices de Beaune, the medieval Chateau de la Rochepot, the prestigious Chateau du Clos Vougeot…

What kind of breakfast do you offer? Breakfast is often on the terrace or it can be in the living room, it includes: fresh croissant and baguette, jam and butter, orange juice, yogurt, fruits, cereals, very good cheese and ham plus coffee and tea.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Like other B&B in Beaune, we don’t offer meals but you can have a picnic on the terrace. We know very well the restaurants in Beaune (there are more than 100) and we will suggest and book a place according to your tastes.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most demanded rooms are Orchidées and Chevrefeuilles, that are large and romantic bedrooms with a private terrace. The 3 rooms upstairs are very bright, they are also in demand for their great views over Beaune old town.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? The 2 cottages are great for a family. Les Lilas cottage is ideal for 4 or 5 persons, Les Pins is great for 4 to 6 persons. In the main house, we can add a bed in some of the rooms: Orchidées, Chevrefeuilles and Campanules.
