Victoria’s historic Inner Harbour buzzes with festivals and events during summer. Tucked just behind is all-suite Oswego, a soulful place to kick off your shoes. Seaplane terminals are only a three-minute drive (or short walk) away, making drop-ins from Vancouver and Seattle painless.

Check-in is swift, with free underground parking for hybrid and electric vehicles setting the quietly sustainable tone. Ceiling fans replace air conditioning, natural materials dominate, and even the name Oswego - from the Iroquois word for 'river's mouth' - nods to nature.

Entry-level suites have full kitchenettes, smart TVs, clock radios and Bluetooth, while top-floor two-bedroom rooftop suites boast sprawling balconies that invite sunset cocktail parties. All feature queen-sized beds, mood lighting, and plenty of room to unpack. While there’s no spa, in-room treatments are available. 

Once settled, you’re steps from Fisherman’s Wharf, British Columbia’s parliament buildings, and the Royal BC Museum - or stroll to James Bay beach to glimpse local otters.

When the day winds down, Aegir Room (named after the Norse sea god) offers offbeat elegance and live music a couple of nights a week. Small plates are West Coast-inspired and inventive - try seaweed peanuts with your duck fat-washed Old Fashioned (!).
