Sitting just outside the village and beach of Agia Galini, this chic hillside property has been expertly run by the Milolidakis family for more than 30 years. Designed to replicate a traditional Cretan village, its timeless style is created mostly using natural materials such as wood, wicker and marble. Olive and mulberry trees provide shade around the three lovely pools, and there are also private pools attached to many of the bedrooms – all of which are either new or recently renovated, with slick, spacious bathrooms. Food is a real highlight here, with an emphasis on local and national specialities – popular dishes include the Greek classic souvlaki and salads made from organic vegetables grown on site. Staff and facilities are top-notch, including a gym, tennis court and five-a-side football pitch – this is just as welcoming a space for children as it is for adults.
