“An enchanting 7 room riad in the northwest corner of the medina belonging to Belgian owners and offering a peaceful haven for couples, solo travelers and (older) families. ”

Hotel review

Glorious exotic jungle seclusion awaits at Kbour & Chou, a heavenly riad in a northern lesser-known pocket of the medina. Entering its magical leafy courtyard is akin to arriving in an exotic sanctuary, perhaps in SE Asia or a tropical African hideaway. The delightful Belgian owners Jacques and Nicholas transformed the riad, originally their home, into a beautiful homage to their travels - to Iran, Uzbekistan, India, Brazil, West Africa and Borneo where Jacques was based for 8 years working in hotel management.

Nicholas’ skills as an architect came into practice as they merged different influences and styles to create a very unique place. Each generously proportioned bedroom has its own individual charm, layout and identity, from an old colonial feel with floor-to-ceiling fenestration and intricate woodwork shutters to simple Berber-chic with arched ornamentation. Thoughtfully designed with utmost care and attention to detail and every comfort considered, there is hanging space, cozy nooks with seating, open fires, atmospheric lighting and bathrooms with graphic-tiled designs or smoothly sculpted tadelakt.

Traditional Moroccan dinner is served in the communal candlelit salon with classical music playing in the background while tasty breakfasts take place on the roof terrace among the chattering birdlife. The excellent in-house massage - in the privacy of your own room - is highly recommended to iron out any knots and muscle kinks.

Jacques and his team go above and beyond to assist guests with any queries, suggesting where to eat out etc. Definitely a place to spend a few nights.
