Hotel Review

White, bright and relaxed - this great hotel is pitched perfectly for Mykonos. Wander down the hill a short distance and you are soon immersed in the maze of narrow streets, smart boutiques and lively bars and cafes that characterise the main town. If the seasonal throng becomes too much then you can return to take a dip in the lovely swimming pool, relax on your balcony and gaze out across the bougainvillea-clad rooftops towards the sea, or just hang out in the hip and happening bar/restaurant overlooking the pool. The cocktails are imaginative and delicious and the hotel playlist is brilliant – they should sell CD’s. Staff are laid back and friendly but absolutely on the case – a well managed team which results in a lot of repeat guests from all over the world. The Semeli breakfast is a definite fixture. Every sort of delicious home-baked thing you want to eat after a night on the town is served through until midday. The rooms are quite tightly packed in the space available, but still private. They are simply decorated (modern not rustic) in plain white with a bit of exposed stonework and sleek new bathrooms. The Semeli makes a fun and comfortable base from which to explore. Hire a Vespa or Quad bike from around the corner for Euro 15 a day and buzz about the island to your heart’s content – ask the hotel for beach towels and a picnic bag. This is one of the few hotels open in low season when Greece (and particularly Mykonos which gets crazy in the summer) can be at its very best.
