If you love art, St. Regis, Venice is perfect for you. The 19th-century palazzo doubles almost as a contemporary art gallery with all the public spaces and suites adorned with rare pieces of art by Rose Wylie, Swiss-glass artist Simon Berger and Ai Weiwei who has his chandelier hanging in the main lounge room to welcome guests upon arrival.
Like most St. Regis Hotels, service is impeccable. From seamless transfers to and from the Venice airport to the friendly bar and breakfast team – everything is done with a smile. With more than 169 rooms and suites spread out over four buildings, it is easy to get lost in the hallways, but it just means you discover more of it. There is no wellness centre but appointment-only treatments in collaboration with cosmetic brand Valmont, a 24-hour gym and a library which overlooks the water. Upgrading to a suite means you get the best view in the city which overlooks the Grand Canal.
For foodies, the dining options are excellent at the hotel too. There is the main restaurant, Gio’s helmed by talented chef Giuseppe Ricci which is creative, delicious and perfect for a special occasion. For more simpler options, The St. Regis Bar is ideal for both Negronis and truffle pasta when in season, and don’t forget Art’s Bar, the hotel’s signature drinks venue for cocktails that are works of art and inspired by those who once stayed in the property like French Impressionalist, Claude Monet. Be sure to be in the hotel lounge at 5pm for the daily Sabrage and enjoy a free glass of champagne to kick-start your evening in Venice.

For a Grand Canal-facing room, or more simply (and less damaging to the bank balance), a spritz in the garden. This freshly restored classic hotel provides the kind of panorama that you dreamt of when planning your Venice trip.
