With more beauty per square foot than many people encounter in a lifetime, this property gets everything right. Its magical setting – high on the hillside, with a view over both Positano and the shimmering waters of the Tyrrhenian – is mirrored in its maximalist decor, including richly textured local ceramics, Zeffirelli’s original mother-of-pearl and filigree furniture plus next-level floral displays. Suites named after former guests, including soprano Maria Callas and the conductor-composer Leonard Bernstein, are highly individual in character but uniformly palatial in size, with their double-sink bathrooms equipped with organic toiletries and stylish striped robes. Begin each evening with a sundowner at Bianca Bar, where an expert mixologist uses ingredients from Treville’s kitchen gardens to prepare memorable martinis and other signature cocktails. Right alongside is al fresco restaurant Maestro’s, which serves up sea views, subtle lighting and a Mediterranean-focused menu that includes the standout pasta dish zucchini alla Nerano. Here, as everywhere, service is perfectly pitched - attentive, while still relaxed.
