“In Porto’s historic Bairro do Silva, 19th-century townhouses are reimagined as sleek, Japandi-style apartments. Expect Scandi simplicity, Japanese wabi-sabi charm, and fully-equipped kitchens. With a sunny courtyard, 24-hour gym, and eco-friendly touches, it’s a stylish, laid-back city retreat.”

Hotel review

Enter Village by BOA through the Village Market, past shelves of dark Algarve sea salt chocolate, vinho verde, and sustainably sourced snacks that immediately start telling local stories.

A friendly receptionist shows you to your cosy apartment, built within Bairro do Silva, a 19th-century urban "island" of houses that was once home to the city's industrial workforce. Architects bent the project to fit the buildings rather than the other way around, preserving painted beams, original woodwork and the neighbourhood's unhurried spirit.

Pared-back design and natural fabrics lend a homey, lived-in feeling, jazzed up with popcorn machines, coffee makers and travel magazines. There's a small gym space plus a penthouse events room with panoramic skyline views, worth knowing about if you're planning something special. The real draw is the pace of the place, partnered with Simpli coffee shop next door for unhurried, easy breakfasts. Stock up at the market when you arrive and again before leaving; those natural wines travel beautifully on the train down to Lisbon.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Guests love Village by BOA because it offers the perfect combination of hotel services and apartment-style comfort. Our apartments are designed with generous layouts, fully equipped kitchens, and the privacy of a home, while still offering the convenience of hotel-style service. This makes Village by BOA ideal for both short city breaks and extended stays in Porto.

What is there to do in the area? Village by BOA is located in the Bolhão area, one of Porto’s most authentic and lively neighborhoods. Guests are within walking distance of the Bolhão Market, beautiful churches, local cafés, restaurants, shops, and many of the city’s main historic and cultural attractions. It is a perfect mix of local life and tourism, allowing guests to experience Porto in a very natural and walkable way.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a special breakfast menu in partnership with Simpli Coffee, located on the ground floor of the hotel. The breakfast focuses on speciality coffee, sourdough bread, fresh ingredients, and nutritious options, including vegetarian choices. It is a fresh and relaxed breakfast experience, designed to feel local, high quality, and easy.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? In addition to our partnered coffee shop on the ground floor, we also offer private dining experiences in our event space penthouse. Guests can book a chef’s table dinner or a more immersive experience that starts with a visit to the local market, where the chef selects ingredients and explains the local products before preparing the meal.

We are also happy to recommend great local restaurants, cafés, and bars in the area, depending on what each guest is looking for, from traditional Portuguese food to more modern dining experiences.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? We offer a variety of apartments in different sizes and layouts, from studios to two-bedroom apartments, including both flat and duplex options. Our most popular room types are usually the larger apartments and duplexes, as they provide more space, comfort, and flexibility, especially for families, longer stays, or guests who want to feel more at home while visiting Porto.

What facilities do you have for children, and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Village by BOA is very comfortable for small families. The apartments are spacious and include fully equipped kitchens, which makes it easy for parents to prepare meals or snacks for children. Many of our room types have space for a crib or an extra bed, which we offer without additional charge for children up to 12 years old. We also offer a premium kids package that includes games and other small surprises to make the stay more special for younger guests.

What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? Come and enjoy Porto like a local, with the comfort, service, and design of Village by BOA.
