Hotel Overview

“Artist Residence Oxfordshire is a country pub and restaurant with 5 comfy rooms tucked under the eaves. Recently voted one of England’s most romantic places to stay, this hotly contested accolade is well deserved. The bedrooms are brilliantly imaginative and different from the bland-but-tasteful norm. Where else nowadays (apart from The Ritz ) do you get to sleep in 100% pure linen sheets – it is worth coming to stay just for those. There are all sorts of fun touches throughout – retro Robert’s radios on the bedside tables (which are not just for show, they are digital and work), gorgeously patterned textiles on headboards, cushions and curtains, mad funky lamps, and great bathrooms too. Downstairs is an eclectic mix of William Morris wallpapers, (his country residence Kelmscott Manor is a nearby attraction), Arts & Crafts woodwork and Tracy Emin-style (actually by Andy Doig) neon art pieces. The atmosphere is fun and entertaining. The young and visionary owners are extremely hands on, here and in their other 3 Artist Residence properties in London, Brighton and Cornwall, so the service is bang on, and small details are not overlooked. The pub is packed and popular, and the restaurant menu is inventive and delicious. You would be absolutely delighted to come here for a romantic night or two. You can spend all your money in the nearby Burford Garden Centre too – Harrods of the Cotswolds.”

Yes we do, at Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms we also offer lunch and dinner both in the Pub and in the Dining Room with an inventive menu created by our Head Chef, Leon Smith, using all things local and seasonal.

The most popular rooms are the Farmhouse Lofts and the Farmhouse Suite, they are spacious, light and airy with original pitched ceilings, lead windows and wooden floorboards. The Lofts have an English bohemian style with eclectic artwork and touches of luxury.
