Just what a B&B ought to be; very clean and neat, welcoming, and inexpensive. But unlike many B&Bs, the Library House is stylish. The owner is generous too. You will be offered a complimentary drink and a free pass to the local car parks - a real asset in a small and busy tourist town. There are four comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and two very attractive public rooms with high ceilings, period details and modern touches. The sitting room was the old village library and has built-in bookcases, filled with solemn volumes. Its large bay window overlooks the river. The breakfast room is more modern, with bare pine joinery and excellent pictures by a contemporary artist. Crisp white linen and fresh flowers on the breakfast tables underline the care taken to make this a rather special guesthouse.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? It’s a blend of the location (World Heritage Site/home of the industrial revolution, which also happens to be a pretty Georgian town) and the style and aura of the house itself. It is a stunning Georgian townhouse located in the centre of the town and close to the bridge, where service and comfort are paramount. Our guests are drawn from the UK and overseas and visit for leisure or business purposes. What is there to do in the area? There are several museums revolving around the industrial revolution, as well as a wide range of leisure pursuits, with walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside the most popular. The towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Telford are easily accessible. Within Ironbridge itself, there is a range of restaurants, bars and pubs to suit most tastes and budgets – all within walking distance. What kind of breakfast do you offer? A range of cereals, fresh fruits etc plus individually cooked hot dishes using local meats and produce. Which are your most popular room types, and why? We have four en-suite rooms, all different sizes and styles, but all equipped with high quality and comfortable furnishings and decorations. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? We don’t just cater for engineering and industrial revolution enthusiasts. Our clientele spans those wanting a break in a characterful and very comfortable b&b, through to those visiting the area on business who prefer our offering to more modern hotels.
