Hotel Review

New Orleans is a noisy, eclectic and joyful mix of music and culture, making it the perfect setting for this playful boutique hotel. Housed in the warehouse arts district of New Orleans, steps from the celebrated French Quarter, this chic city bolt-hole offers spacious, studio-style suites with enough rough edges to feel authentic to the local context. With a St Lucian-inspired restaurant and grown-up cocktail bar, this smart hotel is perfect for a week away in the Big Easy.

Nestled between contemporary art galleries, marked by a huge neon sign, the hotel is not hard to find by any means. The glitzy exterior gives way to more muted, concrete and brick interiors, with a spacious lounge area on the ground floor and helpful reception staff. Guests can choose from a range of room types, from the bright classic double to the chic artist loft suite, decked out in hardwood floors with exposed brick walls and a sitting area with a fold-out sofa and local artwork. Rooms are child and pet-friendly, with under-16s allowed to stay for free in premium and deluxe rooms.

Make sure to sample the hotel's à la carte breakfast, served in the lobby Tout La breakfast bar. From pastries to yoghurts and hearty brunches, there is something to suit all tastes. One of the real highlights of the hotel has to be the restaurant, Compère Lapin; headed by Top Chef contestant Nina Compton, the restaurant has risen to local acclaim for its unique interpretation of Caribbean cuisine, with Italian and French influences. Explore the local galleries in the area where the hotel is located during the day before heading to nearby Bourbon Street in the evening to sample the raucous New Orleans nightlife.
