About Grand Cayman

Synonymous with glitz and glamour, Grand Cayman is the largest of the Cayman Islands, and its most famous. A heady fusion of Caribbean charm and British cultural influences, this is a top pick for chic seaside holidays with excellent diving, fantastic shopping and a thriving evening scene. The island boasts a wide variety of accommodation options — including simple guesthouses, boutique hideaways and expansive family-friendly resorts. Many of the best places to stay in Grand Cayman are set on the beautiful west coast, where you’ll find most of the action.

George Town, the island’s capital, is well-worth exploring. Stroll amidst brightly-painted clapboard houses and discover the region’s fascinating past at the Cayman National Museum before quenching your thirst at a quirky bar or hitting the area’s elegant boutiques.

Beyond the town, white sandy beaches abound. Highlights include Smith’s Cove and Governor’s Beach, but Seven Mile Beach is the best-known — and this is where many of the trendiest hotels and resorts are located. If you’re looking for world-class diving or snorkelling, head to Stingray City, Coral Garden, Starfish Point and Turtle Lagoon. For a surreal experience, visit Rum Point or Sand Point Cove — on the island’s eastern side — where the water glows neon when dinoflagellate plankton are disturbed.

Nature lovers will adore Barkers National Park, the Crystal Caves and the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, too. The island's oldest building, Pedro St. James National Historic Site, is also well worth visiting.

Whether you’re dreaming of a laid-back holiday with friends, an active family trip or a luxurious couples’ escape, the best places to stay in Grand Cayman promise something for everyone. This is a popular spot, so do book your adventure well in advance!
