Hotels in Downtown Munich

Munich’s centre is compact, and its avenues, parks and squares home to some of the city’s most famed attractions including the Hofbräuhaus, the National Gallery and the Marienplatz. The city’s centre is where most visitors come to shop (and that includes scouring the streets for some of the city’s best boutiques), before stepping into one of the many world-class museums, or enjoying a performance at the State Opera House. With so much to see and do, this is why our Hotel Gurus recommend booking a hotel in Munich’s downtown area. This way, when you need a break from sightseeing, you’ll be well placed to stroll back to your centrally located accommodation before heading out again. With this in mind, we’ve created a collection of the best hotels in downtown Munich to make booking your next stay a quick and easy choice. Whether you are travelling with family or friends, on a business trip or a romantic break, there is something to suit most tastes and budgets.

The Best Hotels in Downtown Munich

Our favourite

  • Beyond by Geisel is a fantastic option in central Munich. As well as a superb location just steps from Marienplatz, you can expect sumptuous interiors, an excellent, knowledgable concierge and private chef service. Very spoiling!

For a boutique hotel

  • Although it has 72 rooms, the Louis Hotel is the one to pick for a boutique feel. Set in a 100 year old property, yet with design-led up-to-the-minute interiors, this is a chic base. Plus there's an excellent restaurant and roof terrace with city views.

For travellers on a budget

  • None of our downtown Munich hotels are cheap! However if you need to rein in the costs, the least expensive property on our list is the Cortiina Hotel.

For a private balcony

  • The 5 star Bayerischer Hof has a range of Panorama Suites and Presidential Suites all of which boast private outdoor spaces with great city views.

For a Swimming Pool

  • Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski offers everything you might want from a luxury hotel: stunning rooms and suites, choice of restaurants and a rooftop spa with 12.5m indoor pool as well as a sauna and steam room.
  • Alternatively you could opt for another high-end property — the Mandarin Oriental Munich comes with a roof top infinity pool!

Pet Friendly

  • If you want to bring your four-legged friend, the Cortiina Hotel is happy to welcome pets for a small fee.
