About Anjuna

The heart of Goa’s legendary hippie scene in the 1960s and ‘70s, Anjuna Beach remains a vibrant coastal hub with an enduring bohemian spirit. Home to a wide range of accommodation options, this popular North Goa destination will delight groups of friends and families, as well as relaxed couples. Many of the best places to stay in Anjuna are set right on the beach, but our Gurus have also chosen to highlight some tranquil hideaways — perfect for unwinding in style.

Anjuna Beach itself is a striking stretch of golden sands, framed by remarkable red laterite cliffs and swaying palm trees. The weekly Wednesday Flea Market needs little introduction; creatives gather from all across Goa, and hundreds of stalls promise everything from Tibetan jewellery to Kashmiri handicrafts. To delve further into the area’s history, step inside 500-year-old St Anthony’s Church, admire the teracotta-hued Chapora Fort, or visit the Anjuna Albuquerque Caves with an expert guide. Keen hikers will delight in being within easy reach of the verdant Assagao Valley; and late evening or early morning sightings of nesting Olive Ridley turtles on Morjim Beach are very special.

Come evening, take things up a notch with seaside cocktails and live music — or even one of the full moon parties to which travellers have flocked for decades. Wellness conscious travellers and eager yogis, on the other hand, can find wonderful escapes amongst the best places to stay in Anjuna, perfect for a rejuvenating reset within sight of the sea.
