Best B&Bs in Taormina

Taormina is one of the most beautiful and romantic of Sicilian towns, perched on a clifftop overlooking the ocean, Mount Etna, and a long curve of sandy beach.  Its been a popular place to come for hundreds of years, since before the ancient Romans built an impressive amphitheatre here, but the ancient amphitheatre certainly helped put Taormina on the map with elegant European travellers on their ‘Grand Tours’.  Now Taormina is dotted with wonderful architecture, from the old palazzos,  mansions, and townhouses, to the medieval streets running outwards from the elegant main street, the Corso Umberto I.  These are glamorous streets to stroll, lined with chic bars, lively bistros and cafes, fine dining restaurants, and boutiques and galleries.  Some of Taormina’s most charming historic buildings have been converted into B&Bs and guesthouses - very fitting accommodation in this beautiful spot.  B&Bs here can be quite luxurious - five star even, as well as wonderfully romantic.  Many of the best B&Bs in Taormina have incredible views of this scene, and faultless boutique-style interiors that match the calibre of the views.  Idyllic.
