About Santona

Tucked along the Bay of Santoña, this lively port town east of Santander is perfect for seaside escapes with a friendly, local vibe. Hotels here range from budget-friendly stays to boutique hideaways and elegant seaside spots with sweeping bay views. Families love the central area for easy beach access, while couples gravitate toward chic guesthouses near the marina. If you’re after a road-trip stop with character, Santoña’s mix of comfort, charm, and location makes it an easy choice.

Santoña has plenty to keep visitors busy, from its own city beach with sweeping bay views to the striking Playa de Berria, a long stretch of sand that’s perfect for surfing as well as swimming. If you’re up for a bit of a climb, the Faro del Caballo lighthouse on Monte Buciero rewards you with breathtaking panoramas over both the sheltered Bay of Santoña and the open Cantabrian Sea. Along the seafront Paseo Pereda you’ll also come across the Virgen del Puerto, while the old coastal defenses of San Carlos and San Martín add a dash of history to the scenery.
