The Wynegg is a Klosters tradition and a favourite après ski venue for the Marden’s Club since the 1920s. Many a night have skiers clogged up the restaurant in snowy boots straight off the mountain. Owned and run by childhood friends Christian “Hitsch” Florin and Andri Fasser (Andri trained at the Hotel Vereina in Klosters and Restaurant Seven in Ascona with renowned chef Ivo Adam). The hotel has been given a gentle makeover. Loyal guests will be relieved that the upstairs stübli with the panelled ceiling, painted in 1887, remains unchanged. Rooms are simple but comfortable all with ensuite bathrooms. Rooms at the back are quieter; ten and eleven are favourites under the sloping eaves, and one suite sleeps four with a sofa and TV. Andri produces excellent food from the kitchen for two restaurants both offering renowned fondues, raclette and a la carte menu with regional specialities. There’s a jovial atmosphere, and a colourful mix of locals prop up the bar.
