Castel Monastero claims to have been welcoming guests for hundreds of years, with its origins dating back to medieval times (it's an 11th century hamlet restoration), and that is still what it aims to do best today. Though we think that the standards may have gone up somewhat! The twenty first century incarnation of the Castel remains faithful to its historic roots, but you'll now find sumptuously kitted out rooms, suites and villas with all the modern comforts you'd expect in a top notch establishment. In addition the property boasts gourmet dining and an extensive wellness centre and spa renowned for its slimming, detox and anti-ageing programmes. For those who just want to relax amid the finest trappings, there are several pools, lovely gardens plus tennis court and bikes to rent for the more energetic. Castel Monastero provides the ultimate country base for anyone wanting to explore the Tuscan countryside, then return to a luxurious, pampering cocoon.
