Feted by the critics since its opening in September 2023, it’s immediately obvious why, once you experience the excellence that embodies The Peninsula London. It may be brand spanking new on the outside, but inside you’ll come across the levels of service and attitude to hospitality that has epitomised the Peninsula group since its inception back in the late 1800s. Welcomed in the courtyard by the hotel’s signature, white-suited, pillbox-hatted bellboys you’ll be swiftly directed to the discreet reception area for a seamless and speedy check-in, accompanied by a glass of champers should you wish. Then it’s up to your beautifully appointed room for the night.
The accommodation is something truly special. Whether you book a room or a suite you’ll be treated to something pretty extraordinary in terms of size alone; entry level rooms are the size of many hotel’s suites! All are beautifully designed and most boast floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise fabulous views over either Hyde Park Corner or Wellington Arch. The attention to detail is everything you’d expect from a property of this calibre. Curtains, temperature, lighting etc are all operated via an easy-to-use tablet — there’s no messing around with multiple switches trying to find the right one here! The décor is classic contemporary with bespoke furnishings and carpets which mimic the exterior of the building, both in shade and pattern. Dressing rooms come panelled in mahogany with spacious wardrobes and a handy dressing table, ensuring you can get ready for the evening in a relaxed space. Gorgeous bathrooms are clad in honey-coloured marble with huge walk-in showers and deep soaking tubs. Everything has been seriously considered and the combination of stunning design, high-tech gizmos and additional little accessories like Dyson hairdryers and in-room printers show just how savvy this place is to the needs of its guests.
If you’re planning to eat in, you’re spoilt for choice. Brooklands by Claude Bosi is a Michelin-starred restaurant specialising in modern British cuisine. Located on the 8th Floor, you can enjoy not only incredible food, but some of the most amazing views over London, all with the backdrop of décor inspired by British aviation and motorsport (the inside of the lift which takes you there emulates the inside of a hot air balloon, with sound effects to match!). If you don’t want the high-end dinner, you should at least head up there to the Brooklands Bar and have a drink with a view (the signature cocktails are worthy of the visit). Alternatively, Canton Blue is a destination Cantonese restaurant with moody interiors and delicious food.
Finally, you can't stay here without at least one visit to the Spa. Head down to this huge subterranean space for indulgent treatments, sauna and steam rooms, state-of-the-art gym and huge heated swimming pool with underwater speakers. It's very spoiling!
If you have deep pockets and want to experience the best that London has to offer in a fabulous location (perfect for everything: sights, shopping and nightlife), The Peninsula London is a no-brainer!
