About Buzios

Just three hours east of Rio de Janeiro, Búzios has grown from a collection of sleepy fishing villages into Brazil's most glamorous beach resort. This stunning peninsula boasts twenty-three pristine white sand beaches with crystal-clear waters — all of which remained largely undiscovered by international visitors until Brigitte Bardot visits in the 1960s. Today, the best places to stay in Búzios reflect the resort’s chic, cosmopolitan reputation as well as the original charm of its fishing community roots.

The peninsula offers diverse experiences across three distinct areas. The yacht club area feels particularly sophisticated, with artisanal boutiques studding cobbled streets and lively nightlife at the trendy bars and eateries of Rua das Pedras. Praia da Farradura, on the opposite side, promises fabulous people-watching, whilst seekers of seclusion can look to intimate coves such as Ferradurinha for a more tranquil beach experience.

Spend your days basking in the sunshine, strolling along golden beaches or out on the water. Evenings promise spectacular sunsets, romantic dining and live music aplenty. Our Gurus’ pick of the best places to stay in Búzios includes everything from pretty guesthouses to glamorous luxury hotels — perfect for families and friends, couples or solo travelers. A brilliant weekend escape from Rio, Búzios is popular for good reason!

  • Pedra da Laguna, set on the famous Praia da Farradura, has a bold, playful feel with bright colors and patterns, draped four-posters and beautiful candlelit tables in the evenings. The freestanding baths with sea and mountain views are hugely romantic, and there's a wonderful holistic spa.
