The Avani Riverside Bangkok Hotel may not be centrally located, but it scores top marks for its position on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya river. The long, lean infinity pool on the 26th-floor – which vanishes off the side of the skyscraper into seeming oblivion – is a spectacular way to enjoy the sprawl of Bangkok from above, with panoramic views across the city that stretch as far as the eye can see. A floor beneath, the spa and gym offer further ways to relax while Attitude, the rooftop restaurant, showcases a tapas-style menu and signature cocktails. For those keen to explore Thailand’s capital, regular shuttle buses ferry guests up and down the river to Sathorn Pier which then connects on to the skytrain.
