For travellers who have visited Berlin more than once, SO/Berlin Das Stue is a great choice for those who want access to nature, department stores and the super hip, Charlottenburg neighbourhood. Located just outside of Tiergarten (the equivalent of Hyde Park where locals run in the morning) and next to the Berlin Zoo, the once 1930s Danish Embassy has been converted into a plush luxury boutique hotel with 79 rooms and lots of contemporary art in the public spaces.
In the rooms, a coat of paint and upholstery could really spruce this hotel up a bit so upgrade to a suite and be rewarded with more space, shower, bathtub and large balcony to feel pampered. There is a simple wellness area including indoor pool and sauna, as well as a newly opened French brasserie, Carte Blanche. One of the best hotels to be in if you want to be close to legendary department store KaDeWe.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Because our name says it all – Stue is Danish for “living room”. People feel right at home here, surrounded by peaceful greenery next to the Tiergarten and Zoo, yet just minutes from Berlin’s buzzing heart. They love the mix of calm, design, and hospitality with character.
What is there to do in the area? You can stroll through the Tiergarten, visit the Berlin Zoo right next door, explore the boutiques and galleries of Kurfürstendamm, or discover the city’s vibrant food scene just minutes away. Our concierge is happy to reveal hidden gems or secure hard-to-get reservations.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a generous buffet, with fresh, local products, plus à la carte options prepared just for you.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally ?Of course, our menus feature French cuisine alongside regional flavours and Berlin artisans. Even the minibar includes local chocolates and craft beer.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our Stue Suites are adored for their soaring 5-meter-high ceilings and freestanding bathtubs that make a statement. For views, the Penthouse Suite is unbeatable, with panoramas over West Berlin, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, and a private roof terrace overlooking the Tiergarten and the Victory Column.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We are family-friendly and can arrange adjoining rooms, or extra beds in our SO Junior Suites and above. From our terrace, there is a direct access to the Zoo, which is always a favourite with the little ones. And we do offer a child's dinner menu.
What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? Think of us as Berlin’s most stylish living room: refined, playful, and full of character. The perfect base to explore the city while feeling at home.
