Eco Del Mar is on the southern coast of The Dominican Republic in the Bahia de las Aguilas. The beaches here are among the best in the country, many of them deserted apart from tiny lizards and butterflies. This is just one of two hotels in the fiercely protected area and many of the nearby beaches are only accessible by boat. The cabanas are stylish and airy, with cool drapes, outdoor showers and neutral décor. Some offer sea views and a seating area with a balcony. The tents are simply furnished but comfortable and spacious. Food is a relaxed beach front affair with dishes including grilled fresh coconut crusted red snapper and rum cocktails sipped on the sand or in one of the lodge’s hammocks. A simple breakfast is served here too by courteous attentive staff. Spa services are available in the rooms.
