“This boutique heritage hotel stands on the seafront promenade in medieval-walled Korčula Town. Elegant & restful, it has just 11 rooms & offers highly personalised service. A place to slow down & enjoy the good things in life – romantic open-air dining, fine wines & private sailing excursions.”

Hotel review

This historic hotel, now under new ownership, recently underwent a total make-over, bringing it back to its former turn-of-the-century glory. Receiving guests since 1912, past visitors include King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, who stayed here during their illicit 1936 tour of the Med. Expect elegant understated luxury, with Belle époque interiors combing wooden parquet floors, plush velvet armchairs and smart marble bathrooms.

Best of all is the hotel's 7 Seas Restaurant, with a sea-view terrace graced by towering palms and pink-flowering oleander bushes. Watch yachts set sail from the quay out front while enjoying a sumptuous a la carte breakfast (with vegan and gluten-free options). Come sunset, more boats arrive, while waiters arrange candle-lit tables and you may well be treated to some live jazz. At dinner, look out for the chef's specialities, grilled langoustine with fennel, and a sublime chocolate olive oil desert.

Wine lovers are in for a treat - beyond town lie dense pine woods, sleepy rural villages, and the vineyards that give forth Korčula's indigenous white wines, Pošip and Grk. Several wineries are open for tasting, and you can also hop over to Orebić on Pelješac peninsular, producing Croatia's top reds, aboard the little passenger boat (departing from the quayside in front of the hotel). Through summer, Korčula is served by regular catamarans connecting Split, Brač, Hvar, Mljet and Dubrovnik, making it ideal for an island hopping vacation.
