Hotel review

"Olive green, lavender, mauve and terracotta are among the gorgeous muted natural colours that grace the interiors of this delightful boutique hotel. Newly opened in summer 2026, it was created by a local architect, with family connections to the island, and his partner. Having spent many summers here, they know the island's hidden treasures, and that is exactly what they want to share with their guests – its rocky coves revealing secret beaches, its loveliest hiking paths, and its family-run wineries and rustic konobe (taverns) – in short, the authentic flavours of life on Brač.

Guests at Palazzo Viridis are treated to a delicious à la carte breakfast, served in the reception area which doubles as a bar and breakfast room. Expect platters of locally-sourced seasonal fresh fruit, cheeses and cured meats, freshly-baked bread and homemade tarts, plus eggs cooked-to-order. And excellent Italian style coffee. In the evenings, the bar is open for aperitifs, before guests drift off to various handpicked dining venues, maybe an agrotourism eatery set in olive groves, a waterside fish restaurant, or an informal local pizzeria with a proper wood-fired oven.

Off the radar for mass tourism, sleepy Milna became rather affluent in the 19th century, when its fortune was based on shipping and shipbuilding, and wealthy families built the Baroque houses rimming the harbour. Unlike many other Dalmatian harbour towns, tourism here remains low-key, with yachties being the main visitors, thanks to its three sailing marinas. Through summer, Milna is connected to Split, Hvar Town, Korčula Town and Dubrovnik by fast daily catamarans, making it ideal for a twin-destination holiday.
