Hotel review

Remote, rural, and with a royal connection, this former family home once saw Queen Victoria take a ten day stay in one of its bedrooms, now the Victoria Room. With crackling open fires to welcome you as you return from a hike in the hills, and afternoon tea served in the snug library, this traditional and historic hotel is an arcadian retreat with four poster beds and roll top tubs in its country house style suites and rooms. A fine dining menu featuring Welsh specialities with locally sourced ingredients, is served in the Henry Robertson restaurant, while next door in the cosy bar cocktails are shaken and Welsh wines are poured, both overlooking the grounds where sheep roam and highland cattle huddle. Take a turn around the garden and discover the sculpture park, then relax by the fire with a good book, or settle into your room, enjoying the complimentary honey mead.
