Part of the Luxury Family Hotels group and like all the hotels in its portfolio, Woolley Grange manages to feel both gloriously grown-up and wonderfully child friendly. Set amid the rolling Wiltshire countryside, this handsome Jacobean house has 350 years of history behind it but has recently undergone an extensive renovation including stylish, contemporary décor. Come on a sunny day and it feels like you’ve been transported to the South of France. Think weathered stone exteriors, lavender-lined paths, chic parasols and an inviting outdoor pool with lovely far-reaching rural views. It’s a treat for parents to be able to relax in this special setting thanks to the two hours of free childcare at the Ofsted-registered Four Bears Den per night’s stay.

Perhaps retreat to the spa with its adult-only swim times, heated pool, steam room, sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi and soothing Elemis treatments. Or curl up with a cocktail and book from the well-stocked library in a cosy corner in one of the inviting lounges. Plenty of time to indulge while the kids are enjoying endless activities, including heated indoor and outdoor pools, a fairy garden, pet rabbit, football field, play area, games room and daily movie nights complete with cookies, popcorn and milk - the stuff of core holiday memory making for little ones! Also make time for The Walled Garden, with is abundance of lovingly planted flowers, fruits and veg, and where the resident gardener is brilliant at getting the kids involved.  

It’s worth booking a suite overlooking The Walled Garden too. The private patios come with pretty views, and there are special features like a wood burner, roll-top bath and separate children’s room with bunk beds and mini library.

With all of this to entertain, It’s easy to stay put, but Woolley Grange makes an excellent base for exploring the picturesque streets and historic buildings of Bradford-on-Avon and Bath.
