Hotel Review

“As beach resorts go, Blue Waters has covered all the bases. Attractive accommodation, spacious and beautifully done public areas (the lobby is gorgeous) with an understated yet luxurious colonial feel, and facilities galore - pools aplenty, three beaches, watersports (non-motorised are included in the price), tennis court, complimentary fishing trips, and three dining options (plus Carolyn's for lunch by the pool). Staff are extremely friendly and always keen to help however small or seemingly trivial the request. Book one of the Cove Suites and you'll not only get a semi-private pool (shared with the other guests in your block - max 14), but also a dedicated concierge service (available from 8am to 5pm) and staff on hand to deliver whatever you require to your private pool area. Bedrooms follow the elegant colonial feel with a neutral palette and boast sink-into beds and marble bathrooms, some with stand-alone slipper bath tubs. Dining options include two fine dining restaurants (one French fushion in a cliff top location with stunning sea views, the other a Grill specialist in the main building), or the Palm Restaurant for a relaxed Caribbean cafe atmosphere, so there's no chance of boredom setting in. For pampering take a trip to the spa, where there's a wide range of treatments and massages on offer using Ila and Elemis products. Blue Waters is very family friendly (there's a creche, kids club and dedicated children's buffet dinner from 6-7pm), yet is equally good for a romantic getaway. It's ideally located on the northern tip of the island, just 5 miles from both the capital, St Johns, and the airport. A great all-round beach resort that won't disappoint.”

“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Our guests love the staff; it’s our staff who stand out as Blue Water’s biggest asset, amongst others. This is why guests choose to come back again and again.

What is there to do in the area or on site?
On site, we have a full activities programme, from yoga to cardio classes, to aquacise. For those who want to take in the scenery, we offer garden tours with our head gardener John. We also offer wine tasting with our sommelier Jasper, and rum tasting with our rum expert, Tario.
Locally, there is a championship golf course, Cedar Valley within 5 minutes from the resort . The resort is also 15 minutes from St John’s for shopping

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
Full buffet breakfast

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Yes we have an All Inclusive programme, including all meals and drinks in all restaurants. We even serve a daily afternoon tea in Palm from 4-5pm.
Locally, we would recommend Ana’s on the Beach at Dickenson Bay, just a 5 minute taxi ride. Further afield, we would highly recommend Sheer Rocks, about a 40 minute drive from the resort

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
Deluxe Beachfront rooms, as they have spectacular views, also some of these rooms interconnect – perfect for families. These rooms have just been refreshed.
Cove Suites – set in their own part of the resort, these rooms are very spacious, all with wonderful ocean views and infinity pools for use by Cove guests only. These have also just been refurbished.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms?
We have a creche for ages 14 months – 3 years (chargeable), and a kids club for ages 4-12 (complimentary). Both are open Monday-Saturday 8.30am-4.30pm. We also offer babysitting. Kids menus are on offer in all restaurants. During school holidays, we also offer a kids buffet, as well as weekly kids parties & movie nights.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
Blue Waters is the premier boutique resort of choice in the Caribbean. With accommodations ranging from 1 bedroom, right the way up to 6 bedroom villas, it caters for both couples and families alike.”

Blue Waters hotel, Antigua: review

Centred on its main pool, dining and bar areas, Blue Waters sits above its own beach in Soldiers Bay, with rooms ranged along the waterfront in both directions. Located in the north-west of Antigua, it is close to the airport and to the action of St John’s and Dickenson Bay.
