Hotel Review

Simple and elegant Dar Hanane is perfect if you’re looking for a more authentic experience in Marrakech. A charming guesthouse with pared down interiors, Dar Hanane is located in one of the oldest parts of the medina, in the Kaat Benahid neighbourhood, a little off the beaten track. Dar Hanane draws an intellectual crowd keen on exploring the nearby attractions of the Museum of Photography, Musée de Marrakech and the Medersa Ben Youssef, plus it's not far from the Place Jemaa el Fna with its bustling stalls and souks. For families the Grand Suite is perfect as it sleeps up to four people in plenty of space, the other five en-suite rooms are elegant with the occasional splash of colour. The unfussy and attentive service is managed by Mohamed whose fluent English is a result of studying English Literature. He’s on hand to give tips to the guests and having worked in the souks himself this insider knowledge comes in handy when haggling with the vendors. Full Moroccan breakfast is served on the terrace or in the courtyard and if you want to dine in for lunch or dinner simply tell a member of staff in the morning before you head out for a day of exploring. A combination of relaxed seating on the roof terrace and comfortable lounging under the Berber tent allows you to soak up the views across the city whilst enjoying breakfast, lunch, drinks or dinner. Guests have access to an honesty bar at all times and are very much invited to regard Dar Hanane as their home while they are in Marrakech. If it's a little chilly or raining the elegant salon on the ground floor is the perfect spot to cosy up in front of the fire and enjoy a candlelit dinner. The large salon on the first floor has its own fireplace and both have a selection of CDs and WiFi. The intimate seating alcoves in the tree-filled patio are ideal for breakfast on a rainy day, reading or sipping mint tea. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan hammam, a relaxing massage and a variety of beauty treatments in the comfort of the beautiful sister riad, Riad Tzarra, located just around the corner from Dar Hanane.
