Hotel Review

Dark wood and crisp linen with contemporary touches make this is a wonderful getaway stay in a charming town. Bistro food, a courtyard garden and a bar full of locals make this an authentic country town place to stay with plenty of character. Run by Hillbrooke Hotels who also run the nearby William Cecil Hotel.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
The Bull & Swan has oodles of history which we think complements the fantastic food & drink and delightful style of our luxury accommodation. The beautiful old merchant town of Stamford where we’re situated came top of The Sunday Times’ 2013 list of the best places to live in Britain. With Burghley House the undisputed jewel in Stamford’s crown, The Bull & Swan is the perfect stop-over.

What is there to do in the area or on site?
The Bull & Swan lies within the magnificent Burghley Estate, the centrepiece of which is Burghley House, one of the foremost Treasure Houses of the United Kingdom.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
We offer a really wide choice - from a comprehensive continental buffet to a menu of hot delights, including the full English of course.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
You can eat in our bar or the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner – there’s no need to go anywhere else for great food. We’re renowned for our venison Scotch eggs - make sure you try one!

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
We designed each room with original and comfortable furnishings, using Burghley House for ideas. Each of our seven enticingly quirky rooms have comfy beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen, complimentary vodka by the bed for a little night cap – we think you’ll love them all!

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
Our intention at The Bull & Swan is to offer a relaxed, warm, top-notch service in beautiful surroundings that you just won’t want to leave.
