Hotel review

The West Coast of Scotland isn't renowned for the quality of its accommodation. There are obviously some lovely places to stay and you'll find them on The Hotel Guru, but they are few and far between, so Woodlands is a delightful surprise.

Each of the 21 lodges enjoys a private hot tub. There are 12 RiverBed Luxury Wee Lodges (sleeping two) and seven SeaBed Luxury Lookouts (sleeping up to four) plus the Scandi style properties, Forest Corner Apartment (sleeping two) & Home (sleeping up to five). All are ultra modern, aesthetically pleasing, brilliantly thought out and up to date with super comfy beds with Simba mattresses (guaranteed to give you a good nights sleep), rainfall shower, plenty of cupboard space, wireless charging, air conditioning, mood lighting, projector & screen and electric curtains. Galley kitchens are very well equipped too (you'll find a Nespresso machine, Sage push button smart toaster, fridge, dishwasher, hob, kettle) and outside there's the all-important hot tub, BBQ, waterproof outside furniture and a very special environment and outlook.

What more could you want? Well... how about a 9-hole award-winning golf course, e-bikes to venture out on the Caledonian Way, Segway adventures, archery and fishing. Not to mention hiking through the Glenachullish Forest and up to Sgorr Dheag (Dragons Tooth). If you are not the active type, head to the Woodland Wellness Studio for massages, sound baths, Reiki and more. Woodlands is a superb find — it's not quite paradise, although for some it may not be far short.
