About East Hampton

A string of picturesque seaside villages and hamlets towards the southern end of Long Island — close to laid-back Montauk — the Hamptons promise lazy days on golden sands, delicious foodie delights and brilliant cultural events. East Hampton is amongst the prettiest of the settlements, and has long been popular with high-profile summer residents from NYC or further afield. Expect a superb selection of accommodation options, including intimate B&Bs and chic boutique hotels catering to an array of tastes and budgets. Whether you’re travelling as a couple, a family or with friends, the best places to stay in East Hampton offer a seriously special Long Island escape.

Soak up the sun on beaches backed by undulating dunes, or head out on the water in front of Main Beach for top surf, kayaking and wonderful sailing trips. Cedar Point County Park is ideal for long walks, wildlife-spotting and beautiful views, whilst there are great guided tours for visitors of all ages at EcoDiscovery. Wilderness skills workshops are a real highlight for outdoorsy kids, as are family off-road excursions.

Admire manicured gardens and impressive sculptures at the 16-acre LongHouse Reserve, or visit the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center for an insight into the lives and work of artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. History buffs will love the East Hampton Historical Society, the charming Home Sweet Home Museum, Mulford Farm and the Leiber Collection. For dazzling shows, the Guild Hall is the place to go.

Long Island brims with opportunities for exploration and adventure, but there’s also something to be said for taking it easy at one of the best places to stay in East Hampton — there are some real gems to choose from!
