Airy rooms make the most of the vistas from enormous windows, and while the interiors' feel is fresh and modern there are cosy touches such as fireplaces. Complete with a pool and wine terrace, this is perfect for couples travelling with their pet (who can stay for $25 extra per night).

For wellness

The Wilde Resort & Spa is a luxurious resort with a focus on wellbeing and adventure. Airy rooms are simply styled with whitewashed walls, fireplaces, and balconies with epic views. The spa offers speciality bodywork, Sedona-inspired massages, meditation, and wellness classes. Dogs are made very welcome here with special activities and amenities.

For a resort

Amara Resort & Spa is a secluded and peaceful resort, just two blocks from uptown Sedona whose colour schemes and decor pay homage to the local landscape. Plus there's a spoiling spa, a lovely pool, and plenty of activities. Dogs up to 30lb are welcome for a fee of $50 per night ($25 for a second dog) and dog sitting and walking can be arranged. A good choice for families or couples.

For families

El Portal is an up-scale hacienda-style hotel set in Sedona's art district. The distinctive Arts and Crafts interiors feature handmade adobe bricks, hand-plastered walls, and reclaimed wood beams. With family suites that comfortably sleep four and a pet-friendly policy, the whole family is welcome here.

For luxury

L'Auberge de Sedona offers a prime location and a fabulous pool and French restaurant (with a very good wine list). Expect large modern rooms with fireplaces, luxe bathrooms, and all the mod-cons. L'Apothecary Spa offers a range of treatments and experiences while dogs are equally well pampered with goodie bags, pet sitting, and walking available. A spoiling stay well suited to couples.
