Niagara Falls is one of those places that really lives up to the hype. The sheer force of the water, the roar of the falls and the clouds of spray are quite something, and you can get surprisingly close to all the action on the Canadian side. For somewhere special to stay, Lion's Head B&B is our favourite spot, with its artist-inspired rooms, Italian ceramic bathrooms, hearty breakfasts and lovely views over the Niagara gorge.
There’s much more to Niagara Falls than gawping at the waterfalls, although that’s obviously top of the list! Take a boat trip to get right up close, watch the falls light up after dark or try your luck at one of the nearby casinos. For a change of pace, the Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory are lovely to explore, while Bird Kingdom is a fun stop for families. If you fancy something more adventurous, there’s whitewater rafting and plenty of scenic walking nearby. Summer brings fireworks over the falls, too, but this is a busy place at any time of year, so it’s worth booking your accommodation early.
