About Chiddingfold

Chiddingfold is a charming little village in one of Surrey’s prettiest spots, in the Weald, close to the South Downs, and between Midhurst and Petworth. It’s an easy jaunt from London, and our recommendations for the best places to stay in Chiddingfold are perfect for weekend escapes or mini-breaks, offering great food and beautiful surroundings.

Chiddingfold’s pond and green are at the heart of the village, surrounded by a cluster of little shops, pubs and inns. There’s also a collection of timber-framed Wealden houses and chocolate-box pretty cottages. The church of St. Mary’s rises over the green, creating the perfect picture of British village life. All you need are cricketers and a bit of sunshine — which you’ll often find during the season, Chiddingfold has an active cricket club, and local children train on the green on Friday evenings throughout the summer term.

Though generally sleepy, Chiddingfold is known for its Guy Fawkes procession, held on the Saturday closest to the 5th of November.

The best places to stay in Chiddingfold are the perfect pick for anyone looking to escape the city for a night or two or those wanting to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.
