Located on Melbourne’s buzzing southbank where trendy restaurants and bars line side-by-side, the Crown Metropol is a far cry from seedy casino hotels elsewhere around the world. The building has a sleek design but rooms are simply furnished albeit a little outdated with noughties-vibes, however this doesn’t stop Melburnians coming in for staycations on weekends. With more than 650 rooms, the hotel is always busy. Despite the hotel being attached to the country’s biggest casino, surprisingly, families rule Crown Metropol. The towering skyscraper with extraordinary panoramas of Melbourne has kids running around the breakfast buffet and at all hours of the day, the indoor pool located on the 27th floor is filled with splashing teens and toddlers. The hotel is not a place for the weary or wellness seekers but it is fun if you travel with family. Hotel rooms are spacious compared to other centrally located accommodations in the city and sleep up to 4 - clearly the calling card for families on a budget.
Crown Metropol is part of the greater Crown Complex which has the country’s biggest casino and entertainment district all under the one roof so there is always something to do. Multiple dining options include Italian food at Gradi 400 for award-winning pizza and Marmont, a Californian-inspired eatery with cool cocktails. The lower floors of the hotel connect to the Crown Metropol Precinct where kids have mini-golf, a cinema and bowling at their doorstep.
