“A five-star boutique hotel on the promenade in Cavtat's old town. Occupying an old stone building, it has a Mediterranean garden with a bar-restaurant, a wine bar, and an outdoor pool. Expect highly-personalised service, with advice about nearby beaches and private tours. Ideal for a romantic break.”

Hotel review

Dating from the 1920's, this stone villa underwent total renovation to reopen as a luxury boutique hotel in 2022. You'll receive a warm welcome at reception, where they'll help you plan things to see and do during your stay. From here, stone stairways lead up to 16 rooms with oak floors, pretty patterned wallpaper, opulent upholstered bed-heads, wood-and-rattan furnishings, and en-suite marble bathrooms. An additional five rooms are in an adjoining residence (which can be rented as a whole), with its own lounge area.

Breakfast sees a lavish buffet, plus cooked-to-order options, served on a first-floor level terrace, with views over Cavtat Bay to the front, and over a secluded garden with towering palms and an outdoor pool, to the back. After dark, a big circular fire pit is lit in the garden restaurant, complete with lush planting, where cooks prepare traditional Dalmatian peka dishes – casseroles (maybe lamb, veal or octopus) cooked over glowing embers, covered by cast-iron domes.

Beyond the hotel, a coastal path leads around a pine-wooded peninsula, where you'll find several rock-and-pebble beaches for bathing. At reception, they can advise about boat trips to Dubrovnik and hiking in rural Konavle. Guests can also use the spa (offering a heated indoor pool, and a range of health and beauty treatments) at the sister-property, Hotel Croatia, at the opposite side of the bay.
