“Quiet, homey but super-chic townhouse hotel in a great residential location in South Kensington - no restaurant but a charming courtyard garden.”

Hotel review

British interior designer Kit Kemp's signature style hits hard once you’ve found the right door at this mid-Victorian row of townhouses. Bold colours clash gleefully, contrasting fabrics and patterns pile on. Wander through to find a Drawing Room and Library flooded with natural light, and the real gem, a leafy courtyard garden.

Bedrooms are individually designed with a really feminine, fun sensibility - crisp linens, quirky art finds, and Kemp's bespoke bath products. Ask for a higher, east-facing room if you're a light sleeper, or one overlooking the garden if you can. The sunny Orangery serves lunch, dinner, and a rather special afternoon tea (staff are sweet, though breakfast service reveals inexperience). The location is brilliant: residential South Kensington, a short stroll to the V&A, Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall, and Kensington Gardens. The antithesis of stuffy Park Lane hotels - your coolest teenager will love it.
