“Situated between the elegant Albert Park and the shoreline in Auckland's world famous Waitemata Harbour, the Pullman Auckland offers dramatic views in contemporary comfort complete with spa, brasserie inspired restraunt and 25m pool. The perfect luxury base for travellers, business or pleasure.”

Hotel review

On the edge of downtown Auckland, opposite the university and leafy Albert Park, the Pullman is in a much quieter location than many of the city’s big, modern hotels yet is still only 10 minutes from the harbour. And despite its size - 14 floors in one building, 17 floors in the adjoining, 321 rooms plus a spa and fleet of meeting rooms - there's an easy-going feel about the place, that's more typical of smaller, independent hotels.

The light-filled, open-plan, ground floor, that flows between reception, bar and restaurant, is a-buzz with people having casual meetings, friends dropping in for coffee or post-work drinkers. The south-facing terrace is popular on sunny days, particularly with an expertly mixed cocktail from the bar. And if you'd prefer to eat in the bar or at one of the communal tables rather than in the restaurant, that's fine, too. The Tapestry Grill specialises in well-aged steaks although there's a good selection of fish and vegetarian dishes - the snapper to be recommended. And you really don't want to skip breakfast; a magnificent buffet from pastrami, focaccia bread, fresh fruit smoothies to the full cooked, eggs how-you-want and pancakes.

Everything about the hotel is generous, from the 25-metre pool - the largest in Auckland - and the indoor-outdoor gym, to the bedrooms. All have King-size beds, large windows and space for a couple of armchairs with the room price increasing the higher the floor level and thus the better view. All share the same uncluttered, masculine style with thick charcoal carpets, a colour palette of greys, taupe and slate-blue, dark-wood furniture and marble-tiled bathrooms. Robes, coffee machines and water are standard. And if you'd prefer more flexibility, there are apartments (from studio to three-bedroom) with no minimum stay requirement.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?  "Guests love staying at Pullman Auckland Hotel & Apartments for its excellent balance of comfort, convenience, and premium amenities. Its central CBD location makes it easy to explore the city, while the hotel offers a full-service experience with facilities such as a pool, gym, spa, and on-site dining. Visitors frequently praise the comfortable beds, clean and welcoming environment, and friendly, attentive staff, all of which contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The option of apartment-style rooms with kitchens also provides added flexibility, making it a popular choice for both short visits and longer stays." Sam Sherer, General Manager

What is there to do in the area? Auckland Art Gallery is nearby, The Civic is an excellent place for a show or a film, and Commercial Bay is a short walk too — for plenty of shopping.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? Our team is proud to offer one of the best breakfast experiences in Auckland (we are biased of course). No matter the craving, guests can enjoy a variety of freshly made-to-order options, from a hearty cooked breakfast to something light and fresh. Think about seasonal fruits, pastries, cereals, hot favourites, and barista-made coffee to bring it all together. With such a wide range of choices, there is something to suit every taste and ensure a great start to the day. Otherwise, simply enjoy a second coffee (or third… we won’t tell).

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have a lovely outdoor terrace (and some inside seats) at Tapestry Bar & Terrace, alongside Tapestry Grill inside the hotel.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most popular room types are the Superior rooms with two queen beds and our One Bedroom deluxe apartments. Our superior rooms provide great flexibility and a refreshing simplicity for families and groups which we love welcoming over holiday periods and during local events. Our apartments strike the perfect balance of comfort, space, and convenience. In particular, they really shine for longer stays. Whether guests are travelling for work or enjoying a well-deserved getaway, extra space is always welcomed to create that “home away from home” feeling. Not to mention, sipping on the perfect cocktail with a view that shifts beautifully from day to night.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? At Pullman Auckland, we love welcoming little travelers just as much as the grown-ups, and we know that a great family stay is all about comfort, space, and a touch of fun. We can provide extra beds in selected room types, and some of our apartments also include sofa beds for added flexibility and sleep overs! We also offer a range of thoughtful amenities for children, including welcome backpacks and soft plush kiwi toys. We love to add something extra during school holidays. At the moment, we have a Splash Zone obstacle course set up in the pool area, plus cake decorating daily, taking care of the creatives and the adventurers.

What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? That Pullman Auckland is your spot for which ever occasion you'd like it to be. Holidaying with family, a quiet weekend of wellness tucked away at Luxe Spa, an indulgent spot for a city escape, down to a place for conferences and events of all sizes.
