Hotel Review

Surrounded by some of the best fishing in the UK, thanks to the River Test, The Grosvenor at Stockbridge has always been popular with those who love country pursuits, labrador owners and keen shooting and fishermen. Now this 33 room country hotel has taken on a new lease of life under its new ownership after a stunning renovation of all of the rooms, library, drawing room, bar and restaurant. Depending on your mood or the season choose between calm, muted tones in rooms decorated and styled by Interior Designer Vicky Clark or opt for the more bright and colourful rooms by Lottie Keith. The rooms have large beds with plump pillows and crisp white bedlinen and underfloor heating in the en-suite bathrooms. Dog-friendly rooms are in the garden rooms at the back of the hotel as is the Hayloft the hotel's honeymoon suite. Travelling en-famille? Why not book The Tap Cottage on the High Street. Renovated to the same exceptional standard as the hotel it has 3 double en-suite bedrooms, kitchen and dining room (min. 2 night stay).

Ideal for shooting parties, events and celebrations The Grosvenor has plenty of space to entertain; The Library seats 12, The River Room has its own art deco bar and seats 20 and the Market Room Restaurant can seat up to 60 for special events. During the winter why not enjoy a little après ski in La Hutte the chalet style lodge, a cosy venue serving an alpine inspired menu and during the summer months The Terrace is home to Stockbridge’s only wood-fired, alfresco dining experience tucked away in thewalled garden.

Inside, The Market Room Restaurant takes its name from the 19th-century Stockbridge Market and inspiration from the River Test, decorated in green with a stunning mirror reminiscent of evenings on the river. The menu features some favourites including crab linguini, minute steak with fries and sticky toffee pudding with a great wine list to choose from. The panelled Drawing Room or Danebury Room has plenty of cosy sofas and chairs where you can enjoy a tête à tête, an Afternoon Tea or pre-dinner drink.

The striking new bar opened on 3rd March - decorated in bright pink with splashes of gold and the occasional blue it's sure to win over even the more traditional crowd with its great atmosphere, friendly service and splendid cocktails.

Once a hotel frequented only by those interested in country sports, The Grosvenor at Stockbridge will now also appeal to city slickers who are after a couple of nights away with great food, a cool bar and beautiful interiors. One of the best newcomers in 2022.
