Hotel Review

Set back from the usual chaos of Sliema’s bustling centre is the Victoria Hotel, which certainly lives up to its name. As you walk into the building, you experience the aged refinement of what could have been a 19th-century gentleman’s club, albeit with a Maltese twist. Any man could make himself at home in the lounge, with its baby grand piano, open fireplace and sumptuous leather chairs: if only you could still smoke a pipe or cigar indoors. It’s not all for the men however – the luxurious spa facilities are hard to beat with fresh water indoor and outdoor pools; a sun terrace; saunas; steam room and treatments galore.

The Victoria continues the refined feel in its accommodation: think classic, elegant, timless style and design accompanied by luxurious touches including rich fabrics and private balconies. But it's not all tradition here! For something altogether more modern and vibrant, you should book either an Executive Double (spacious modern rooms on the 7th floor in a blue and silver palette) or the Executive Suite (part of AX's Designer Collection which offers a bright colour scheme and fabulous terrace with private sauna).

Diners at The Victoria are faced with various options too. Take a seat in The Copperfield’s Restaurant, complete with gilded mirror, carved mahogany, grand light fittings and antique paintings for a sense of very un-Dickensian luxury, or head to Penny Black Bar for some traditional pub style fare.

The Victoria is ideal for anyone wanting to book either a summer or winter break to Malta. Its location in the heart of Sliema means that all the island's best bits, from nightlife to beaches and shopping, are within easy reach. It's a charming property with much style and character that will not disappoint.

Due to the fact that it is situated in a central position and in a very well sought area, one can enjoy all sorts of activities, ranging from a stroll on the promenade to extreme water sports particularly during the summer period.
