About Wengen

Wengen is a car-free Alpine village with cinematic mountain views, vintage charm and a quiet sense of Swiss sophistication. With everything from romantic grand dames and chalet-style boutique properties to family-friendly hotels right on the nursery slopes, the best places to stay in Wengen tap straight into the resort’s blend of heritage and high-altitude serenity. Come for the crisp mountain air, linger for the sunsets over the Eiger – your hotel balcony might just be the best seat in the house.

Whether you’re here to ski, hike or simply switch off, Wengen makes it easy. In winter, you’re plugged straight into the Jungfrau ski region – with nursery slopes for little ones and more challenging descents for seasoned skiers. Some hotels are just steps from the slopes or ski schools, while others are ideally placed for slower-paced pursuits: tobogganing, winter walks, or curling on the village rink. In summer, mountain trails unfold in every direction, and staying higher up means you're right on nature’s doorstep. Historic hotels add an extra layer of charm, often hosting piano evenings or offering libraries that nod to Wengen’s golden age of Alpine travel. Dining is just as varied: think hearty rösti and fondue in wood-panelled restaurants, or elegant tasting menus with valley views. After dinner, most evenings wind down with a quiet drink on the terrace or in a snug bar; nightlife here is low-key, but all the more magical for it. And for those who like to explore further, nearby Murren and Grindelwald are within easy reach, offering even more variety in both adventure and stays.

Don't forget if you're planning to visit during the peak winter ski season, the best places to stay in Wengen get booked up very quickly. Do your research and book well ahead.
